David Swensen
David Swensen, a chiropractor, is an American open water swimmer, race director and administrator from Massachusetts.

New England Marathon Swimming Association
He is the current treasurer of the New England Marathon Swimming Association (NEMSA), a non-profit member organization founded in 1976 spanning from Booth Bay to Narragansett Bay immersed in open water swimming, racing and watching guard over New England's waters. Its members have been swimming the waters of New England in the northeastern United States of America for over 30 years. From Booth Bay to Narragansett Bay, members swim and watch guard over the quality of New England's waters.
The organization, who calls themselves, "Open Water Swimmers for Clean Water," retains the goals of connecting open water swimmers across New England, encouraging awareness in clean water issues, and creating or promoting open water swim events - whether races, open water swimming clinics, or informal group swims.
Professional Career
Dr. Swensen received his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic and has attended extensive postdoctoral studies in chiropractic Neurology, Sports Injury, Pediatrics, Orthopedics. Dr. Swensen is a certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (CCSP) a fellow of the Academy of Chiropractic Orthopedics (FACO), and a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS). He is also a level II swimming coach, a contributor to Splash magazine (USA Swimming’s membership Magazine), and a certified KAATSU and KAATSU Aqua Specialist.
Both doctors are active in community service in a variety of organizations, including: Rotary International, YMCA, Melrose Chamber of Commerce, New England Marathon Swimming Association, North Shore Chiropractic Society, and American College of Chiropractic Orthopedists.
Open Water Swimming Career
- He won the 1-mile division of the 10th annual Swim & Fin event in Salem Harbor in Massachusetts.
- He finished 3rd overall in the inaugural 5 km Boston Frogman Swim in Boston Harbor, Massachusetts on 2 June 2019.
