Santorini Island

Santorini (Greek: Σαντορίνη), is an island in the southern Aegean Sea, about 200 km (120 miles) southeast of Greece's mainland. It is the largest island of a small, circular archipelago which bears the same name and is the remnant of a volcanic caldera. It forms the southernmost member of the Cyclades group of islands, with a population of 15,550. The municipality of Santorini includes the inhabited islands of Santorini and Therasia and the uninhabited islands of Nea Kameni, Palaia Kameni, Aspronisi, and Christiana.
The Santorini Experience[edit]
The Santorini Experience is a running and sea swimming event that includes a 1.5 km swim with 1 km + 5 km + 10 km + 15 km runs held on Santorini Island (Cyclades Group of Islands) in Greece on 7-9 October 2016. Participants include 5-time Olympian and 2-time open water swimming world champion in open water swimming Spyros Gianniotis, 2016 Olympian Kelly Araouzou, the Greek national swim team, and the Greek national swim team coach Nikos Gemelos.
