Imelda Lynch is an Irish open water swimmer and an escort crew member.
Open Water Swimming Career Highlights
- On 9 September 2005, she completed a crossing of the English Channel from England to France in 14 hours 34 minutes at the age of 43.
- On 10 July 2011, she completed a 14.4 km crossing of the Strait of Gibraltar from Spain to Morocco in 7 hours 5 minutes at the age of 49 for her second Oceans Seven channel.
- She was a member of a 4-person English Channel relay.
- She was a member of a 2-way English Channel relay.
- She was the first person to complete a swim in Kllmacsimon, Ireland, a 23 km swim from Bandon River to The Dock to Speckled Door, together with Danny Coholan in 2006.
- She was the first person to complete a 6.4 km open water swim from Oysterhaven to Sandycove in Ireland together from Owen O'Keefe and Lisa Cummins in 2008.
- She attempted a crossing of the North Channel (DNF).
Honors
She is an Honor Contributor (Crew) in the Hall of Fame – Marathon Swimming Ireland Class of 2020.
