Colm O'Neill is an Irish open water swimmer from Dublin.
Open Water Swimming Career Highlights
- He completed the 12 km Cleggan to Inishbofin swim in 2001, setting the speed record that has not been beaten since.
- He was part of The Swim relay across the Irish Sea in 2011.
- On 19 July 2002, he completed a 33.2 km crossing of the English Channel from England to France in 11 hours 42 minutes at the age of 31.
- On 31 July 2004, he completed a 35 km crossing of the North Channel from Scotland to Northern Ireland in 11 hours 25 minutes 5 seconds at the age of 33. He was the second swimmer from Ireland to complete both the English Channel and North Channel. He was the 8th swimmer to complete a crossing of the North Channel.
- On 5 July 2008, he finished 10th in the 45.9 km Manhattan Island Marathon Swim in New York in 7 hours 55 minutes 47 seconds at the age of 37.
- On 5 October 2008, he finished 3rd in the 12 km Cork to Cobh swim in 2 hours 27 minutes 8 seconds at the age of 37.
- He was the second swimmer from Ireland to complete both the English Channel and North Channel.
Honors
He is an Honor Swimmer in the Hall of Fame – Marathon Swimming Ireland Class of 2020.
