From Openwaterpedia

Christian Damgaard is an open water swimmer from Copenhagen, Denmark. He is one of three co-founders of the Danish Open Water Swimming Association - DOWSA.

His most notable swims were performed in 2012 together with his brother Jesper Damgaard: He completed a 20km swim across the Sound between Denmark (departure from Skovshoved Habour) and Sweden (finish at Barsabäck Habour) and the 21km Vidösternsimmet in Sweden. He also won a silver medal in the 10km danish national championship at Amager Strandpark. Finally, he completed the English Channel in 10 hours 14 minutes becoming both the fastest and youngest dane to make the crossing.

He holds the record in the Vidösternsimmet, a 21 km marathon swim in Lake Vidöstern in Småland, Sweden traditionally held in August. The Vidösternsimmet is Sweden's longest open water swimming competition that stretches from north of Osudden in Jönköping County to the Strait of Kronoberg in the south. The race is divided into five different legs between 2.8km and 5.5km where swimmers stopped for hydration and refueling. Wetsuits (optional) and orange-colored swimmer safety devices are used.
