Vidösternsimmet

Vidöstern Simmet is a 0.5 km, 6 km and 21 km and 42 km marathon swims in Lake Vidöstern in Småland, Sweden traditionally held in August. The 2017 race will be held on 12 August.

It is Sweden's longest open water swimming competition that stretches from north of Osudden in Jönköping County to the Strait of Kronoberg in the south. The race is divided into five different legs between 2.8 km and 5.5 km where swimmers stopped for hydration and refueling. Wetsuits (optional) and orange-colored swimmer safety devices are used.
