2018 RSOT Swim Across The Caribbean by Joel Matos Ortiz was a 80.4 km stage swim from St. John’s to St. Thomas to Vieques to Ceiba, Puerto Rico

Ceiba is both a small town and municipality in northeast Puerto Rico. It is named after the famous Ceiba tree. Ceiba is located in the northeast coast of the island, bordering the Atlantic Ocean, south of Fajardo, north of Naguabo and southeast of Río Grande.

Open Water Swimming

Joel Matos Ortiz, an open water swimmer from Puerto Rico, completed a 100 km solo swim in 47 hours 6 minutes 25 seconds from Jost Van Dyk in the British Virgin Islands to Ceiba across the Caribbean Sea on 24 May 2019 in a solo charity swim called the RSOT Swim Across The Caribbean.
