Review by WOWSA

Steven Munatones of the World Open Water Swimming Association described the now-defunct service by Orca: When pools were shut down globally due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Orca created an opportunity to help swimmers stay sane and fit. Orca, a wetsuit brand owned by Orbea, created the online program Make The Ocean Your Pool. Following its long line of offering creative solutions like its Best Places To Swim online information service, Make The Ocean Your Pool is a new service that encourages and educates pool swimmers and those who are not yet passionate open water people to have the information and confidence to venture beyond the shorelines of oceans, seas, lakes, rivers and bays near them. Orca offered discounts for both individual consumers and teams. For generating interest and a sense of community around the open water, for jumping into the vacuum created due to pool closures around the world and eliminating barriers to continue swimming, and for creating an informational newsletter and public support encouragement of open water swimming combined with product discounts, Make The Ocean Your Pool by Orca was a valuable innovative service.
