The Great Fjord Swim is a 750m, 2 km and 3.9 km fjord swim in the Killary Fjord in Leenane Co., Galway, Ireland held in October that is part of the Global Swim Series. It takes place in the deep clear 14-15°C waters of Ireland's only fjord, Killary fjord, in October.
Killary Harbour is a 16 km-long fjord sandwiched between mountains to the south and north located in the West of Ireland in the heart of Connemara which forms a natural border between counties Galway and Mayo. Swimmers of all abilities can choose between the 750m and 2 km courses with the added bonus of €2000 in prize money.
