The-Everything-Goes is one category of the 2.2 km course at the Jax Coco Shek O Challenge where participants wear or use any equipment of their choice to give them the extra edge over the competitors - small motors and hydrofoils are allowed.

Jax Coco Shek O Challenge

The Jax Coco Shek O Challenge is ranked among the Top 50 Open Water Swims In Asia and is organized by Doug Woodring of Open Water Asia. The Jax Coco Shek O Challenge is a 2.2 km and 4 km point-to-point race from beach-to-beach where some of Hong Kong’s top open water swimmers, triathletes, adventure racers and water lovers swim from Big Wave Bay to Shek O Back Beach. It also includes the world's only trisolothon and one of the World's Top 100 Open Water Swims.

It is part of the 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 World Open Water Swimming Series and includes the trisolothon event where open water swimmers will team up with a runner and a paddler, all of whom start at the same time from different locations, and converge on the same finish line together. The race promotes open water swimming and sports in Hong Kong, along with a strong ocean conservation message. It also includes an ocean water polo tournament.

Alternative Categories

On the 2.2 km course, participants can enter this alternative categories:

  • The Hypoxic - swim from Big Wave Bay to Back Beach without breath; a 30-second penalty is assessed for each breath taken
  • The-Everything-Goes - wear or use any equipment of their choice to give them the extra edge over their competitors - small motors and hydrofoils are allowed
  • The Fly Don't Cry - swim head-up butterfly along the course
  • The-Leg-Burner - kick the course without fins with a one-hour cut-off time
