- Tempe Town Lake is the site of the Arizona Open Water Swim Series, an open water swim series organized by David Benjes of DCB Adventures that includes 1000m, 2000m, 4000m and 5000m lake swims in Arizona including Saguaro Lake, Tempe Town Lake, Pleasant Harbor Marina and Lake Pleasant.
- Tempe Town Lake is the site of the 2018 USA Swimming Open Water Swimming National Championships on 4-6 May 2018 with 5 km, 7.5 km and 10 km races.
