Stephen Key
Stephen Key is a 54-year-old American marathon swimmer from Dallas, Texas.
Professional Career[edit]
Key is a management-side labor & employment attorney who joined the Brown Fox Law Firm after 23 years of managing his own, successful labor & employment boutique law firm. His practice is limited to the representation of management in matters of employment litigation, governmental regulation and union relations.
Key is certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization as a specialist in labor & employment law. He is recognized by D Magazine as a “Best Lawyer” and as a “Texas Super Lawyer” by Texas Monthly Magazine, a distinction held by fewer than 5% of Texas labor & employment attorneys. Key has gained particular recognition for his success in representing employers fighting union organizing drives, with more than 90 successful campaigns.
Open Water Swimming Career[edit]
- At the SCAR Swim in Arizona on 25-28 April 2018, he completed a crossing of Saguaro Lake in 3 hours 58 minutes 53.9 seconds, a crossing of Apache Lake in 7 hours 1 minute 39.7 seconds, and a crossing of Roosevelt Lake in 3 hours 31 minutes 6.7 seconds at the age of 50.
- At the SCAR Swim in Arizona on 27-30 April 2016, he finished 9th overall in 22 hours 18 minutes 1.83 seconds. He completed a crossing of Saguaro Lake 4 hours 15 minutes 57.69 seconds, a crossing of Canyon Lake 4 hours 43 minutes 9.11 seconds, a crossing of Apache Lake in 9 hours 44 minutes 24.73 seconds, and a crossing of Roosevelt Lake in 3 hours 34 minutes 30.30 seconds at the age of 48.
- At the SCAR Swim in Arizona on 6-9 May 2015, he finished 21st overall in 21 hours 5 minutes 55.7 seconds. He completed a crossing of Saguaro Lake 4 hours 0 minutes 23.5 seconds, a crossing of Canyon Lake 3 hours 54 minutes 38.3 seconds, a crossing of Apache Lake in 9 hours 38 minutes 23.8 seconds, and a crossing of Roosevelt Lake in 3 hours 32 minutes 30.13 seconds at the age of 47.
- On 22 July 2017, he won the 45.9 km 20 Bridges Circumnavigation Swim of Manhattan in New York City in 8 hours 1 minute 49 seconds at the age of 49.
