Samantha Simon is a 24-year-old American open water swimmer from Janesville, Wisconsin who is a member of the Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming and the Grand Slam of Open Water Swimming.
Open Water Swimming Career[edit]
- Simon began swimming competitively in High School at the age of 14. She started doing marathon swims in 2008 at the age of 18.
- On 19 April 2008, she finished 4th in the 37 km Tampa Bay Marathon Swim in Florida in 8 hours 59 minutes 12 seconds at the age of 18.
- On 19 July 2008, she finished 13th in the 25 km championships in Morse Reservoir in Indiana in 6 hours 46 minutes 49 seconds at the age of 18.
- On 17 August 2009, she completed a 33.8 km English Channel from England to France in 13 hours 11 minutes at the age of 19.
- On 12 June 2010, she finished 6th in the 45.8 km Manhattan Island Marathon Swim in New York in 8 hours 10 minutes 54 seconds at the age of 20.
- On 2 August 2010, she completed a 32.3 km crossing of the Catalina Channel from Santa Catalina Island to the California mainland in 9 hours 22 minutes 54 seconds at the age of 20 to achieve the Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming and Grand Slam of Open Water Swimming.
- In September 2011, she completed a 42 km crossing of the Molokai Channel from Molokai to Oahu in Hawaii in 13 hours 41 minutes for her third Oceans Seven channel.
- On 9 August 2012, she completed a 33.8 km crossing of the English Channel from England to France in 13 hours 56 minutes at the age of 22.
- On 19 April 2014, she won the 37 km Tampa Bay Marathon Swim in Florida in 12 hours 18 minutes at the age of 24.
- On 24 June 2017, she finished 18th in the 20.1 km Swim Around Key West in Florida in 5 hours 1 minute 3 seconds at the age of 27.
- On 12 August 2017, she finished 9th in the Minnetonka Challenge in Minnesota in 4 hours 50 minutes 18 seconds at the age of 27.
- On 1 October 2017, she finished 16th in the 19.3 km Swim Around Charleston in South Carolina in 5 hours 22 minutes 14 seconds at the age of 27.
- She was the winner of The Frank Richards Endurance Award in 2012.
