S.P. Murleedharan is an Indian open water swimmer.

Open Water Swimming Career Highlights[edit]

He completed a 29 km solo crossing of the Palk Strait starting at Talaimannar Sri Lanka and finishing at Arichamunai, Dhanushkodi, India. Murleedharan avoided sea snakes in the 13 hours 53 minutes under the direction and escort of Commander G V K Unnithan in 2012. "As an Indian I feel proud to cross Palk Strait from Sri Lanka to India. The conditions were extremely tough for swimming. The sea, pleasant in the initial stage, turned very rough. It forced me to swim against the strong wind and choppy sea."
