'Rob Ouldcott is a British open water swimmer and a member of the Serpentine Swim Club in London, England.
Open Water Swimming Career Highlights[edit]
- he completed a solo crossing of the English Channel in 14 hours 35 minutes on 4 September 2012
- he is the coach of the Six Girls No Buoys (also called the 6GirlsNoBuoys Yr8 Channel Challenge Team) team
- he participated in the 2014 Brest2Ars, a charity bike ride from Brest in Finisterre, Western France to Ars on Île de Ré and raising money for Breast Cancer Care and Prostate Cancer UK
- he is a member of the Frequent Flyers, a 6-person relay from Great Britain and Germany that attempted a 69 km (49 mile) all butterfly 6-person relay in Lake Geneva, Switzerland. They finished with an unratified time of 33 hours 34 minutes 9 seconds on 13-14 July 2016. The team consisted of Mark Johansen, Kevin Blick, Sam Mould, Robert Fisher, Rob Ouldcott, and Boris Mavra. Their unprecedented attempt using butterfly faced primal and dangerous conditions including predominant headwinds exceeding 32 knots. The relay decided to change to freestyle in the interests of safety after nearly 13 hours.
- he coached the Six Girls No Buoys team, a relay of six 13-year-old girls who crossed the English Channel in 2013 in 13 hours 6 minutes under the direction of escort pilot Eddie Spelling.
- he was a member of the Cold Turkey, a six-person relay that crossed the English Channel on 2 December 2017 in 13 hours 18 minutes in 9°C water and 6°C air with Deirdre Ward, Boris Mavra, Kevin Blick, Mark Johanssen, and Dani Lobo, all members of the Serpentine Swim Club and escorted by Sea Satin.
- he was the 2012 recipient of The Oldman Trophy in memory of Fred Oldman, kindly donated by British Long Distance Swimming Association for the 'BLDSA Swimmer of the Year' Award.
