The Elbe (or River Labe in Czech) is one of the major rivers of Central Europe. It rises in the Krkonoše Mountains of the northern Czech Republic before traversing much of Bohemia, then Germany and flowing into the North Sea at Cuxhaven, 110 km northwest of Hamburg.
Open Water Swimming
- Joseph Heß attempted to swim 620 km down the Elbe from the Czech Republic border with Germany to Hamburg in Germany in 10 days in August.
- 25 km Gaston Memorial Swim is held in the river Labe in the Czech Republic every August.
