Peggy Duncan or Margaret Duncan was a South African open water swimmer prominent in the early 20th century.

Channel Swimming[edit]

  • Duncan completed a swim from Robben Island to Roggebaai, Cape Town as a 15 year-old on 7 February 1930 in 53ºF water in 7 hours 30 minutes after she ran away from her convent school in Johannesburg to compete in the event
  • Duncan completed another swim from Robben Island on 3 January 1928
  • Duncan was the first South African swimmer to cross the English Channel in 1930 coached by Jabez Wolffe in 16 hours 17 minutes
