Liberty Island is a small uninhabited island in New York Harbor in the United States, best known as the location of the Statue of Liberty. It became part of the National Register of Historic Places site Statue of Liberty National Monument, Ellis Island and Liberty Island in 1966.

Liberty Island, along with Ellis Island and Black Tom, were given the name Oyster Islands by early settlers in the area. Liberty Island was known as Big Oyster Island.

It is site of the Statue of Liberty Swim, a 1.2-mile circumnavigation swim in New York City organized by NYC Swim, organized by Morty Berger in June.
