Meis - Kaş Swimming Competition

The Meis-Kaş Swimming Competition is a 7.1 km cross-border (Greece-to-Turkey) open water swim in June from the harbour of Castellorizo (aka Castellorizon or Kastelorizo), Greece on Meis, the closest Greek island to the Turkish mainland, to Kaş Harbour in Turkey. Castellorizo is known in Greek as Megisti and, in Turkish, as Meis. It is the smallest and most easterly of the Dodecanese Islands situated roughly halfway between the well-known island of Rhodes and the major Turkish Port of Antalya. The race is part of the Kaş Festival organised by the Kaş Municipality.

Conditions & Prerequisites[edit]

  • There is not a strong current in the course with the water temperature around 22°C.
  • Swimmers must be older than 18 years of age.
  • Before the race, swimmers must undergo a health check by a physician.
  • Swimmers must be able to swim 1500m in less than 30 minutes.
