Matthew Dixon, MSc is the founder and head coach of Purple Patch Fitness in San Francisco, California.

Dixon brings a unique blend of professional coaching experience, elite athletics and education to lead the purplepatch team. His Master's degree in clinical and exercise physiology combined with his experience as an elite swimmer and professional triathlete form the backbone of his coaching philosophy, the purplepatch pillars of performance, a much broader and adaptive view of the path to peak performance than conventional endurance sports coaching.

He is a highly sought after resource in the fitness and endurance community, writing and contributing to multiple publications such as Triathlete Magazine, Lava Magazine, Outside Magazine and Triathlete Europe. His ability to lead, educate and develop athletes of all levels to their peak potential is what sets him apart as a coach and he has applied his philosophy in developing multiple World Champions, Ironman Champions and some of the leading professional athletes in the world. Dixon is also using his philosophy to guide and develop health, fitness and performance plans for multiple c-level executives at global companies as well as overseeing master’s swim program, cycling programs, running programs and hosting camps and clinics reaching out to novices, age groupers and elite amateurs alike. Matt's personality and experience allows him adapt and apply the purplepatch pillars of performance to all levels of athlete and fitness enthusiasts acting as their trusted guide on the journey to being a fitter, stronger endurance athlete.

Donkey dipped in cement: When things start going bad

Smoking Jackets: Smooth and easy

“it’s emotional”: Get on with it, YOU can do it.

Suffering like a rented Mule: Self explanatory

The governor/Guv'ner: Sometimes referring to the giant arse muscle or Matt's alter ego, or whatever Matt decides on the day.

The hat of justice: A towel placed on Matt’s head that rendors him completely impartial and allows him to make non-biased judgments of one’s performance.
