- He won a silver medal in the 25 km team event at the 8th FINA World Aquatics Championships in Perth, Australia on 11 January 1998 together with Grant Robinson and Tracey Knowles in a cumulative time of 16 hours 22 minutes 54.3 seconds.
- On 20 February 1999, he completed the 19.7 km Rottnest Channel Swim in Western Australia in 4 hours 33 minutes 30 seconds at the age of 19.
- On 26 February 2000, he completed the 19.7 km Rottnest Channel Swim in Western Australia in 4 hours 0 minutes 15 seconds at the age of 20 that set the course record that existed until 2018.
- On 31 October 2000, he completed the 25 km race at the FINA Open Water Swimming World Championships in Honolulu, Hawaii in 5 hours 0 minutes 15 seconds.
