Maks Romeijn is a 28-year-old Dutch Expedition Medic and Researcher who is part of the escort crew of The Longest Swim.

He has worked in several fields of acute medicine including cardiology and intensive care with interests in the provision of optimum health care in situations outside the hospital. After following an expedition medicine course organized by World Extreme Medicine, he teamed up with Lauren Horner and The Longest Swim onshore medical team and will take care of all people on board and monitor Ben Lecomte during the assisted stage swim across the Pacific Ocean starting on 5 June 2018. He will also lead the medical research projects, including imaging studies of Lecomte’s heart in collaboration with NASA.

The Longest Swim[edit]



Ben Lecomte will attempt The Longest Swim from Choshi, Japan to San Francisco, California in a transoceanic assisted stage swim, 5,419 miles (8,721 km) across the Pacific Ocean starting on 5 June 2018.
