Logan Jennings Rutledge is a child who was 30 born July 2001 at the Medical University of South Carolina. After a courageous battle, he died on 26 August 2001.

Logan Rutledge Children's Foundation[edit]

A foundation was set up in May 2002 in Logan's memory, the Logan Logan Rutledge Children's Foundation (LRCF). The local non-profit organization promotes the health and welfare of children in the Lowcountry. Its efforts are focused on helping fund underprivileged children in drown-proofing and learn to swim programs in the Lowcountry and have made numerous contributions to assist individual children in need in the Lowcountry.

Logan Rutledge Children’s Foundation offers a new swimming initiative to benefit area children, Lowcountry Aquatics Project Swimming (LAPS), under the direction of LRCF and Splash Director Mark Rutledge. was established in the loving memory of The foundation has raised over US$80,000 over the years for programs that promote health and welfare for various children’s charities. Since its beginning the foundation has supported the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the Medical University of South Carolina and has made numerous contributions to assist individual children in need in the Lowcountry.

Low Country Splash[edit]

One of its fundraisers is the Low Country Splash, a 2.4-mile open water swim along the Mount Pleasant shoreline in Charleston harbor, South Carolina. Over 500 swimmers from 30 American states between the ages of 9 and 89 participate in the charity swim.

The Splash has raised close to US$137,000 for the Logan Foundation over the past 10 years. While the foundation continues to be committed to children’s charities, a new swimming initiative is a focus as well. The last two years the foundation has appropriated US$60,000 to Charleston County School District for their swimming initiative to support swimming lessons for local schools.
