Leuchtturmschwimmen (english: light tower swim) is an open water swimming event taking place each year in July in Wilhelmshaven, Germany. It took place for the first time in 2008. The swim starts by the light tower, Leuchtturm Arngast, in the middle of Jadebusen Bay in northern Germany. The swimmers are transported to the light tower by boat and swim back to the shore.

Participants are allowed to use wetsuits and fins. Swimmers using fins are awarded separately.

Distance[edit]

The distance depends on the currents, wind and tide at the time and day of the event. The distance is approximately 5,5K - 6,5K.
