Latvia was site of the 2012 Winter Swimming World Championships in Slovenia. The 11th Latvian Winter Swimming Championships in 2015 were held in Beberliņi Lake in Liepaja, Latvia with the water and air temperatures at +1°C for 25m, 50m and 4x25m team relays.

The International Winter Swimming Association World Cup Series (or IWSA World Cup) is a 5-part winter swimming series held 7 November 2016 in Jelgava, Latvia, 6-7 February 2016 in Windermere, England, 13-14 February 2016 in Skellefteå, Sweden, 27 February 2016 in Tallinn, Estonia, and 8-12 March 2016 in Tyumen, Russia.

noun - The Jelgavas Roni Cup is a winter swimming competitive circuit and part of the International Winter Swimming Association World Cup Series (or IWSA World Cup organized by the International Winter Swimming Association, headed by chairperson Mariia Yrjö-Koskinen of Finland and co-organizer Aleksandr Jakovlevs of Latvia.
