Lake George Marathon Swim

The 1927 Lake George Marathon Swim was a 24-mile (38.6 km) professional marathon swim held on Lake George in Lake George Village in New York. The race was won by Edward Keating in 18 hours 47 minutes over Ernest Vierkoetter and 140 other competitors from around the world. Keating received US$5,000 for his victory.
The modern-day Lake George Marathon Swim is 51.5 km (32 miles) in distance and was held on 18-19 September 2016.
Lake George was also the site of the 2014 U.S. Masters Swimming 6-9 Mile Open Water Swimming Championship that includes a 2.5 km, 5 km and 10 km marathon swim on 23 August 2014, organized by Green Leaf Racing.
