Jeannie Wrightson

Jeannie Wrightson (née Acosta) was the first female ocean lifeguard hired by the City of Los Angeles in California. A pioneering lifeguard in the 1960s, Wrightson trail-blazed an exemplary career on the city's beaches and then went on to assist in community activism and raise her family in Southern California.
