High stepping

From Openwaterpedia
(Redirected from High step)

ver - High-stepping is a form of quick and efficient entry into open bodies of water. High stepping involves swinging one's lower legs and feet outside the shoulder line and over the surface of the water as deep as one can. After the high steps, open water swimmers and triathletes often begin dolphining through the shallow water before starting to swim.

High-stepping can also be performed as the triathlete or open water swimmer is finishing the swim and is running through the shallow water towards the finish.
