From Openwaterpedia

A native of Rochester, New York, Eric DePetris grew up by the crystal clear lakes of upstate New York, teaching swimming and lifeguarding. His passion for the open water grew stronger after becoming a certified scuba diver in college.

After moving back to Florida in 2002, Eric began competing in open-water swims and triathlons, including the Florida Half Ironman, Pensacola 10K Bridge swim, Ed Gaw Open Water 5K, and the Tampa Bay Frogman 5K swim.

Eric is a practicing General Dentist in Fleming Island and when he’s not swimming, he enjoys flying, scuba diving, and spending time with his family.
