Efstathios Chorafas

From Openwaterpedia

Efstathios Chorafas (Greek: Ευστάθιος Χωραφάς, 1871 - ?) was a Greek open water swimmer. He competed at the 1896 Summer Olympics in Athens.

Olympic Career[edit]

Chorafas was the only swimmer to compete in all three swimming events as they were contested immediately after each other. His times in each of the events is unknown, as well as his place in the 100m freestyle, but it is known that he placed third in both of the longer events. In the case of the 500m freestyle, Chorafas was the last of three swimmers. In the 1,200m freestyle, he bested six other swimmers despite having already swum 600 metres in close succession.
