Doublewaters

From Openwaterpedia

Created By Lynne Roper for Outdoor Swimming Society

This is the point where the Walkham runs into the Tavy, in a deep wooded valley. There are some pools and water slides in the Tavy, a deep pool where the waters meet, and a huge, deep pool downstream from Doublewaters on the big bend in the river. This is a spot for expensive fishing, so you might not be able to swim in this pool. There area also some fun pools and slides up the walkham, so worth an exploring session.

Directions:

Park on West Down - from Plymouth Rd in Tavistock, take the turning off the mini roundabout opposite the cemetery up Brook Lane (Signposted Walreddon).

Follow the lane around 1.5 miles to the top, go over the cattle grid and park to the side of the track.

Follow the track down the hill through the woods, take the R fork above the house, and follow down to the river Walkham.

Walk downstream and you’ll come to Doublewaters. (Takes around 20 mins from West Down).
