verb - Defrosting (or to defrost or thaw out) is open water swimming vernacular that refers to when a cold water swimmer, winter swimmer or ice swimmer swims in warm or tropical waters. It can also refer to the rewarming process after an ice swim (i.e., swimming at least 1000m in water that is colder than 5°C without wetsuits or neoprene).

A defrosting swim usually feels comfortable after a tough Ice Swim.
