David O'Brien (UK) (born 28 January 1983 in Prescot, England) is a retired English pool and open water swimmer who specialized in freestyle events. - He won the Capri-Naples race in 1991
- On 10 August 1992, he finished 2nd in the Sylvan Lake World Series Marathon Swim in Alberta, Canada.
- He won solo swims of the 19.7 km Rottnest Channel Swim in Western Australia in 1993, 1994, 1995 and 1996 and second in 1997. This included dodging a submarine in the channel in 1994. - On 5 July 1992, he finished 4th in the 36 km Maratona del Golfo Capri-Napoli in Italy in 6 hours 42 minutes 15 seconds.
- He finished 3rd in the 1991 FINA World Championships 25 km race in Perth, Australia finishing in 5 hours 8 minutes 53.35 seconds.
- He finished 3rd in the 35 km Marathon de la Riviera in Savona, Italy finishing in 7 hours 36 minutes.
- He finished 5th in the 1989 and 1990 Waikiki Roughwater swim
- He completed a Maui Channel relay swim
