David Alleva Ph.D. is an American pool and open water swimmer. He was from Fairfax, Virginia and swam for the Starlit Aquatics swim team. He received an athletic scholarship at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana where he trained under fellow International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame inductees Coach James "Doc" Counsilman and James Kegley between 1982 and 1986.
