Dave Newton

Dave Newton completed the first circumnavigation relay of Mackinac Island in 2004 together with Dick Buist and Ed Gilde in 5 hours and 11 minutes. Mackinac Island is a small National Historic Landmark and part of the state of Michigan. Buist, Newton and Gilde rotated every 20 minutes. When it was not their turn to swim, the swimmers walked 11 miles around the island.
