The Dare2tri Paratriathlon Club in Chicago, Illinois, USA was the first USA Triathlon (USAT) sanctioned paratriathlon club in the United States, founded in 2011. Dare2tri provides opportunities for athletes with physical disabilities and visual impairments to get involved in the sport of paratriathlon. Some of the most common disabilities among Dare2tri athletes include, but are not limited to: Amputation, Cerebral Palsy, Spinal Cord Injury, Spina Bifida, Stroke, Visual Impairment or Blindness. Dare2tri provides a highly trained and qualified coaching staff, various types of adaptive equipment, and training support needed to reach each athletes' health and fitness goals. Dare2tri offers a wide variety of training programs and plans that are tailored to meet the needs of youth, adults, and injured service members, as well as novice through elite athletes.
In addition to offering ongoing programs and practices, Dare2tri hosts a variety of exciting camps, clinics, and special training events designed to keep all levels of athletes engaged and challenged. New in 2015, Dare2tri Paratriathlon Training Camp is now the Official Technical Training Camp of USA Paratriathlon.
It is a fact that individuals with disabilities are three times as likely to be sedentary as individuals without disabilities. Seeing the need for triathlon in the adaptive sport community and having a passion for the sport, Keri Serota, Dan Tun, and Melissa Stockwell banned together to start Dare2tri Paratriathlon Club.
