noun - A current neutral course is an open water swimming course where there is no impact or neutral impact on the speed of the swimmer due to currents, tides or winds. It can include an out-and-back course where the positive impact of the currents, tides or winds in one direction is offset while the swimmer is swimming back in the opposite direction.

This term was coined by Evan Morrison of the Marathon Swimmers Federation circa 2016.
