noun, verb - Freestyle is a common competitive swimming stroke for the pool and open water swimming. Freestyle is swimming freely using any type of stroke, although it is generally refers to the front crawl. Freestyle can be performed doing head-up freestyle or head-down freestyle.
Usage
Most channel swimmers use freestyle to accomplish their goal.
