Conrad Wennerberg
Conrad Albert Wennerberg (20 June 1932 - 8 September 2016) was an American author, coach, trainer and open water swimmer who was inducted in the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame in 1977 as an Honour Administrator and was the 1977 recipient of the Irving Davids-Captain Roger Wheeler Memorial Award, an award given by the International Swimming Hall of Fame.
Wind, Waves and Sunburn: A Brief History of Marathon Swimming
Wennerberg is best known for his authoritative book, Wind, Waves and Sunburn: A Brief History of Marathon Swimming that is considered to be the most definitive work on marathon swimming and the professional marathon swims in the 1960s in Lake Michigan.
Athletic and Coaching Career
Wennerberg swam over 12,874 km (8,000 miles) over the course of his career in addition to training with his athletes, including Ted Erikson and Dennis Matuch who were both inducted in the International Marathon Swimming Hall of Fame as Honour Swimmers.
