Saint Pierre-Miquelon

Saint Pierre and Miquelon (French: Collectivité d'Outre-mer de Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon is a self-governing territorial overseas collectivity of France, situated in the northwestern Atlantic Ocean near Canada. It is the only remnant of the former colonial empire of New France that remains under French control, with a population of 6,080 at the January 2011 census.

The islands are situated at the entrance of Fortune Bay, which extends into the southern coast of Newfoundland, near the Grand Banks.

Open Water Swimming[edit]

Jason Hare, Joshua Hare and Abigail Hare are Canadian open water swimmers who completed a 7.17 km open water swim from Grand Colombier Island in the French North American territory of St-Pierre and Miquelon to Little Green Island in Newfoundland, Canada in August 2015 in the 15ºC water of the Atlantic Ocean in 4 hours 6 minutes 50 seconds.
