Clear the water

From Openwaterpedia

verb - To clear the water refers to the finish by a channel swimmer or marathon swimmer who must complete a swim or crossing on dry land to be officially recognized by a governing body. The swimmer's body including their feet must be entirely out of the water to be judged complete.

The Catalina Channel Swimming Federation requires all channel swimmers to clear the water on the opposite shore before their swim is deemed officially complete and successful.
