Circumnavigate

From Openwaterpedia

verb - Circumnavigate is to navigate a circumference and refers to swimming or travelling all the way around an island, a continent, or the entire planet Earth. The first world circumnavigation was the Magellan-Elcano expedition which sailed from Spain in 1519 and returned in 1522 after having crossed the Atlantic Ocean, the Pacific Ocean and the Indian Ocean. Circumnavigations around islands (e.g., Manhattan Island in New York City) are popular among marathon swimmers.
