Circle pattern

noun - Circle pattern (or Circle swimming) is part of pool swimming etiquette when there are more than 2 swimmers sharing one lane. Circle pattern is when swimmers swim to the right of the lane at all time. In the United States, this means the swimmers stay to the right (i.e., while swimming freestyle, the right shoulder of the swimmer is against the lane line) and swim in a counterclockwise direction within the lane. In Australia, this means the swimmers stay to the left (i.e., while swimming freestyle, the left shoulder of the swimmer is against the lane line) and swim in a clockwise direction.
