Osmond is a registered pilot with the Channel Swimming & Piloting Federation. He escorted the successful 12 hour 52 minute crossing of the English Channel by Dr. Otto Thaning on 6 September 2014 who became the oldest person in history to cross the English Channel at the age of 73 years.
