Chris Barnard is a South African open water swimmer.
Open Water Swimming Career Highlights
- He was the first person in the world to complete the 7.6 km crossing between Blouberg Beach and Robben Island swimming butterfly in February 1990.
- He set a South African record for the longest non-stop butterfly swim in an open body of water in April 1994 with a 15 km swim.
- He helped organize and manage the Cape Long Distance Swimming Association during the 1980's.
