Cebu Strait (Tagalog: Kipot ng Cebú; also Bohol Strait) is a strait in the Visayas Region of the central Philippines. The Cebu Strait connects the western part of the Bohol Sea with the Camotes Sea, and separates the island provinces of Cebu and Bohol. Swims across the Cebu Channel are one of the World's Top 100 Island Swims.
It is a major sea-lane connecting Cebu City on its northern end with port cities in the south such as Dumaguete City and Cagayan de Oro City.
Open Water Swimming
- On 11 April 2015, Ingemar Patiño Macarine, nicknamed the Pinoy Aquaman, was the first person to complete a crossing of the Cebu Channel, a 17 km channel swim in the Visayas, from Santa Fe town in Bantayan Island to San Remegio town in northern Cebu in 7 hours 45 minutes.
- On 11 April 2016, Ingemar Patiño Macarine swam 16.83 km across the Cebu Strait in 5 hours 49 minutes from LightHouse Brgy. Cabacungan on Cabilao Island, Municipality of Loon, Province of Bohol to Brgy. Bulasa, Municipality of Argao in Cebu.
- On 12 June 2016, Ingemar Patiño Macarine swam 16 km from Cabilao Island, Loon, Bohol to Argao, Cebu.
- In April 2017, Ingemar Patiño Macarine swam 12 km from Panggangan Island, Calape to Sandingan Island, Loon, Bohol.
- In July 2017, Ingemar Patiño Macarine swam across the Cebu Strait in his native Philippines by pioneering a new route from Argao Pier, Municipality of Argao, Province of Cebu to Barangay Pantudlan, Cabilao Island, Municipality of Loon, Province of Bohol.
