Open Water Swimming Career
- Costa is a member of the 24-hour club due to his 45 km solo south-to-north swim across Lake Ontario in Canada on 22-23 July 1993 in 32 hours 43 minutes at the age of 20
- Costa completed a successful crossing of the Catalina Channel in 7 November 1993 in 15 hours 3 minutes, swimming from Santa Catalina Island to Cabrillo Beach
- Costa attempted a Lake Ontario crossing in 1992.
- He participated in the inaugural 20 km Embrace the Challenge, a cross border swim across Lake Erie between Canada and the USA on 20 August 2017.
