Cancun Underwater Museum
The Cancún Underwater Museum (Spanish: Cancún Museo Subacuático) is an underwater project founded by Jaime Gonzalez Cano of The National Marine Park, Roberto Diaz of The Cancun Nautical Association and Jason deCaires Taylor. It consists of over 400 permanent life-size sculptures, one of the largest and most ambitious underwater artificial attractions in the world and is located near Cancún in Quintana Roo in Mexico. The Museum aims to demonstrate the interaction between art and the environmental sciences, forming a complex reef structure for marine life to colonize and inhabit the sculptures and surrounding area. The location of the sculptures promotes the recovery of the natural reefs and relives pressure on them by drawing visitors away from other coral reef zones that are in need of rehabilitation and to the beautiful sculpture museum.
Open Water Swimming
El Cruce includes a 10 km marathon swim where its participants traverse over the Cancún Museo Subacuático.
