Perry Cameron is a 79-year-old open water swimmer from New Zealand.
Open Water Swimming Highlights
- He was the first person to cross the Cook Strait from South Island to North Island on 12 January 1972 in 9 hours 36 minutes at the age of 30 - and the third person in history to swim across the Cook Strait and missed the overall record by 2 minutes.
- After an 8-year break, he competed in the marathon swimming series organized by the New Zealand Marathon Swim Council (NZMSC) alongside Meda McKenzie, Sandra Blewett, John Coutts, Chris Hurdley, and other pioneers of marathon swimming in New Zealand.
- He received a Lifetime Award by the New Zealand Ultra Marathon Swim Awards in 2021.
