California Pier Series
The California Pier Series (previously known as the Fear No Pier or Southern California Pier Adventure Swim) is a multi-stage swim around the piers of the Southern California coast from Santa Barbara to San Diego, first attempted in 2013.

Inaugural Fear No Pier
A group of California-based swimmers started the inaugural Fear No Pier event on 17 August 2013. The series of pier swims since expanded to a total of 54 piers along the entire California coast and California Channel Islands in a subsequent sequel. It is one of America's Top 100 Open Water Swims.
Distance
The 2013 Southern California Fear No Pier stage swim includes a cumulative total of 311 miles driving and 19,000 meters swimming that took a total of 23 hours including 12 hours driving + 8 hours swimming + 3 hours for eating/resting.
Participants
A group of 14 channel swimmers, marathon swimmers, and open water swimmers from the Oak Streakers started in the north (Santa Barbara) and finished in the south (San Diego). A number of them swam around each pier along the coast while driving in 2 large recreational vehicles between each pier; however, only Ray Meltvedt completed a swim around all 27 piers in the inaugural event.
Swimmers who completed one or more of the piers included Julie Flanagan, Lynn Kubasek, Julian Rusinek, Ray Meltvedt, Cherie Edborg, Theo Schmeeckle, Tim McFadden, Carol Hayden, Peter Hayden, Lisa Nordholm, Patsee Ober, Natalie Merrow, Tanya MacLean, and Scott Zornig. Ray Meltvedt was the only swimmer to complete a swim around all 27 piers on 17-18 August 2013.

Option 1
19 piers - Los Angeles County + Orange County + San Diego County = 202 miles driving and 12,300 meters swimming (8 hours driving, 5 hours swimming, 2 hours for eating/resting = 15 total hours)
Option 2
22 piers - Ventura County + Los Angeles County + Orange County + San Diego County = 254 miles driving and 14,900 meters swimming (10 hours driving, 6 hours swimming, 2.5 hours for eating/resting = 18.5 total hours)
Option 3
27 piers - Santa Barbara County + Ventura County + Los Angeles County + Orange County + San Diego County = 311 miles driving and 19,000 meters swimming (12 hours driving, 8 hours swimming, 3 hours for eating/resting = 23 total hours)
